Leoncio Carlos, a five year associate
of Arborilogical Services, Inc., won the 2002 Texas Tree Climbing Championship held in Waco at the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame in April.
Hundreds of people filled the park area for the competition. There were log
tossing competitions (the ladies division champion was our own Christy Boyd), free tree giveaways sponsored by the City of Mesquite, ax throwing demonstrations, speed saw competitions as well as the finest tree climbers in the state.
The climbers were tested in five disciplines or events. They included throwline, footlock, aerial
rescue, belayed speed climb, and the work climb event. Rules dictate that the top five finishers in the total of those five
events compete in the finals.
The final this year was cancelled due to lightning and the top five finishers in the preliminaries were declared the winners. Leoncio, as the overall winner, represented Texas in the International competition held in Seattle, Washington in July of 2002. Leoncio Carlos marks the fifth different employee of Arborilogical Services, Inc. to win the state title, nine
of the past ten state titles have been won by Arborilogical Services, Inc. employees! Both records! We are very proud of Leoncio and all of the employees that competed (eleven in all).
