Arbor Day at the Dallas Arboretum

On Arbor Day at the Dallas Area Botanical Gardens and Arboretum, Steve Houser of Arborilogical Services is interviewed by Anna Allen of Fox4 about trees in general and appropriate tree selection for the North Texas region. As they walk through the magnificent display of trees in the garden, Steve points out a few of the best trees for the climate and soil types of the region and gives a few tips on tree care.

A Shumard Red Oak tree sapling give away was another feature at the annual Arbor Day event. Anna and Steve also discussed the wisdom of consulting an Arborist when tree problems get out of control. Tree care is hard and dangerous work and should be left to the experts. Call Arborilogical Services for all of your tree care needs.

Hard Work Saved a Few Trees at Presbyterian Hospital

The Dallas Historic Tree Coalition (DHTC) and it's friends banded together to fight City Hall to plead the case of a rare tourist draw and resource of the Dallas area; large trees  over 100 years old. If a developer working at Presbyterian Hospital had their way, these trees would meet their fate with the blade of a bulldozer - and as quickly as possible. After all it's just a tree - or is it?

To find the answer to this question, visit the Texas Tree Trails web site. DHTC among others are partners in a venture to catalog these tree types and preserve them.
