Mr. Thomas Strawn
Mr. Thomas Strawn joined Arborilogical Services in 2021. He is a Dallas native who, following high school, spent multiple years in various education and service-related capacities in northern Mexico where he became fluent in Spanish as well as discovered a love for teaching and explaining concepts to others. Upon returning to Texas, he relocated to the Texarkana area and completed his Associate degree at Texarkana College and his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Texas A&M- Texarkana.
During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Strawn’s passion for science was encouraged and stimulated through undergraduate research opportunities related to local freshwater microcrustacean as well as literature review research in the field of environmental science. He placed two out of three years in the University essay contest for research papers written regarding environmental themes and law enforcement. In 2015, he represented the university at Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol in Austin with a poster presentation covering desertification of landscapes and was chosen as the 2015 Biology Department Student of the Year.
Following graduation, Mr. Strawn worked to share his love of the natural world teaching Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Biology courses at the high school level. During this time, he completed a Master of Arts in Science Education and was named the 2019-2020 District Secondary Teacher of the Year. He and his wife spent time volunteering with the Texas Stream Team monitoring water quality, he also participated in the Texas Master Naturalist Program, and actively engaged in observing and enjoying the nature around them through many activities with their two children.
After deciding that the time was right to move out of education and into a more hands-on application of his passions, Mr. Strawn enrolled in a Master of Science in Environmental Geoscience program through Mississippi State University and relocated with his family back to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He looks forward to being able to serve the community educating and caring for the trees of North Texas and providing the attention to detail he has given all of his endeavors to the valued clients of Arborilogical Services, Inc.
