Off the beaten path on Steel Road (off FM 544) is a company that strives to make this world a more beautiful place. Arborilogical Services has been in Wylie for three and one-half years and provides a full range of quality care and consulting services.

The services they offer are tree pruning, tree fertilization (synthetic and organic), soil aerification, tree removal, stump grinding, tree planting/transplanting, cavity treatment, cable installation, lightning protection system, pre-through and post-construction tree preservation, and various consulting services.

Steve Houser and Kevin Bassett founded the company in 1981 in Dallas. Steve acts as the general manager and is in charge of management, mechanics, and sales. He has experience in all phases of the tree care industry and is a member of the National Arborist Association and the International Society of Arboriculture.

Kevin is a plant pathologist and is also a member of the National Arborist Association, the American Forestry Association and International Society of Arboriculture. In addition, he placed second in the state in 1983 at the International Society of Arboriculture Jamboree in which arborists (tree specialists) from around the state competed.

Both Steve and Kevin have participated in the jamboree in the past. Kevin serves on the Board of Directors of the society and will be in charge of the jamboree that will be held in Fort Worth in June of 1991. Several employees of the company have placed in both the state and international tree climbing competitions.

Recently, when the city needed some trees transplanted, Park Maintenance Foreman Philip Bounds called on Arborilogical Services to help. They performed the transplants and were contracted to trim trees at Kirby Park last year. The company received a Certificate of Appreciation from the city last year for their work.

"I think the city of Wylie, as it grows, can include a program that the larger cities don't have to make it a greener, more beautiful city. We also look forward to working with the Park and Recreation Director," Steve remarked.
